New Years

Delicious Keg Beer flows from the spout
Wine Women and Whiskey poured down your mouth,
Drunken men Climbing up the Front Porch,
Bonfires cast light and heat of a torch

Loud music plays and we all dance,
all songs you know and some you dont,
Drunken frenzy whipped into hypnotic trance,
moving and shaking the night rolls on
pairs meet, drift off and sleep,
sleep and fuck and fight and eat,

Its a beautiful thing
to drink and fight and fuck and sing
All will be merry cause they have no choice
Because when the Murphy's come home
its time to rejoice.

New Years Eve Party @ Rocklanding house
RSVP ASAMFP
my mom is a little nervous about the number of guest, bring some sleeping gear, all beds are pretty much claimed. Come one come all, all over the wall, just not in your pants.
Pulling out is not an affective method of birth control.

Bring a bottle of booze or some food as this will be a pot luck party, Ill take care of the kegs and most of the booze but some reserves dont hurt, you know how these things work.

let me know your out their folks

Casino Royale

Just saw the new bond flick tonight. To all the doubters out there... screw you, its awesome! My only complaint is the lack of a car chase scene. Yea you see the Aston Martin flip in the trailer but it isn't much. Eva Green is so hot. I think I was drooling every time she was on the screen. oh man, soo hot!....

anyway go see it.

Speaking of casino, I'm going to Las Vegas at the end of the month. Anyone who's been please chime in with a "must see".

Also, word is there will be some people out at Rookies Friday night. I hope to make it.

1. The Light Show Downtown, you gamble for 40min at the Three Queens or Binions or other downtown retro casino, then go out onto the street on the hour and check out the music and light show above your head, its really cool.

2. Ghost Bar at the Palms, for the hip scene and view of Vegas.

3. My favorite casino.... The Sahara, sure it lacks some of the glitz and glamor of the newer casinos, but the bottled beer flows and you can play $3 single deck blackjack, which is a little slower paced and more enjoyable.

Well... there is alot to see, but also the Hardrock Casino is cool. But the nicer the place, the higher the stakes.

Where are you staying and how long?

By Blogger wyldshaman, at Wednesday, November 22, 2006 9:06:00 AM

Oh and another thing you may not think about.

Checkout some of the afternoon shows, they can be alot of fun, comedy acts, vantriliquzum?, even topless, they are normally cheap, possibly even comped.

But mostly they are a good way to break up the periods of heavy drinking and gambling.

By Blogger wyldshaman, at Wednesday, November 22, 2006 9:15:00 AM

Ride at least one of the rides on top of the Stratosphere (http://www.insanityride.com) So crazy.

Also, everything at Circus, Circus is cheaper. It's old Vegasy, not as glitzy - but a late night 1lb. hot dog for $1 and a bucket of Coors Light cans for $3 is nothing but awesome.

Yeah, i've seen the reviews for Bond coming in posiitive as well. I'll maybe reconsider. It cant be worse than the last pathetic two.

Thanksgiving TBS Bond marathon week! Woo hoo!

Casino Royale is awesome - I agree. It's really badass.
And long live the monkeyman of Mogadishu or wherever they were. I would see that movie again just for that footchase scene alone.

i was already going to "hell" anyway

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

They have everything for young men to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys ...

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal,
You can do whatever you feel ...

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you've got to know this one thing!

No man does it all by himself.
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf,
And just go there, to the y.m.c.a.
I'm sure they can help you today.

BLAH!

humm.. the sparkle fades from the heavy mist of the brown moo juice.

i've been absent from the blog latley because i have nothing to say. life isn't good or bad, things aren't up or down, they just seem to be going. where? i have no idea. i'm spending a lot of time, and i mean A LOT of time with World of warcraft, and i think its starting to get to me. i've been having dreams about it frequently. nice dreams. so has aisling. i've got her hooked too. she's in them as well. its fun.

Aislings godfather had a book reading at Broad St books the other night and we went. it was cool, he is a famous poet and he's got a new book coming out so he read for about an hour infront of about 50 people. it wasn't bad, the guy has a cool irish accent and it was very interesting. i just couldn't help but think that it almost sounded to easy to do. maybe thats his gift. but the poetry was good, and maybe the symbol of good poetry is being able to make hard stuff simple. there was a little reception afterwards in a house that had offices for retired weslyan teachers. it was fun. Wine, cheese, and smart people. i'm getting to know this guy Bob who does the editorial cartoons for the hartford current pretty well since i've talked to him a few times now and i see him a bunch over at aislings house. there was one akward moment where Lisa (aislings mom's friend who shares the house) introduced me as aislings Fiencae. (spelling?) it cought me off guard but she was drunk so i didn't think anything of it, but hte guy she said it too was very shocked. it took me too long to get the right words out of my mouth and lisa had already started talking again. i tried to correct her but it was too late. i told the guy we weren't engaged and moved on. but lisa was drunk and introduced Aisling as my fiancae (again spelling?) to the same guy later in the night. she didn't handle it as well since ais hates lisa, so it was minor drama time. yeah! drama!. FUCK! it may be hard to belive but i think i'm the patient one in this relationship. ais and my sister don't get along either so thats been a barrel of fun too. but i'm working on that one. i think i can manipulate amanda enough to fix that situation.

i know i haven't been writing anywhere near as much as i should be but i'm going ot fix that. i'm well over due for a baseball recap adn i want to start talking about the hot stove. come on, you don't know what the hot stove is? shame on you. well wait and find out. this blog needs a shot of [Sweet Nectar] in the arm and i'm not about to let it die. Oh, politics, i'm forgeting politics. gail hamm wins by 84 votes. thats all that mattered, and the fucking dems pulled something awesome out of thier ass. i expected to win the house, thats easy, but not the senate too, that was a dream and it came true. now all we have to do is count on libermans vote. great. i'd be more inclinded to expect Mccain to vote dem than him. oh well, we'll see.

Well thanks for taking the time to peel away from Warcraft to give us your 3am life update. Good to hear from you. I almost called last night when i heard Howard Dean say "Boooya!" on the Daily Show.

No job update?

I know what you mean when you say things are just 'going'. Are we losing our passion and vigor to routine and comfort?

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Tuesday, November 14, 2006 9:01:00 AM

i dont think you've ever been the patient one in a relationship hahaha. but seriously, nice to hear from you. things with amanda and ais will work themselves out. i can see where there would be a few differences, to put it lightly. but i'm happy that sounds like it's going great.

are you going to vt for thanksgiving? dominique and i will be in town for a few days.

By Blogger josh, at Tuesday, November 14, 2006 11:47:00 AM

yeah, me patient, who'da thunk it. yeah i'll be in VT for at least thanks giving day, not sure what else.

i heard the Booya! too. it was awesome.

no job update because there is nothing to update.

passion and vigor at taking a nap, wake them after the new year.

And the Blue takes it!

I actually dont have time to get into the election results, but i wanted to post something (and am surprised noone else has). I was at the bar on Tues watching the results come in. It was like watching a sports game- blue vs. red. I loved watching the Dems 'thump' those dirty corrupt republicans. Clean sweep baby! Fox news had the auroa of death- i could feel the depression coming through the screen. Wonderful. Suck it down boys.

A point of conversations:
Lieberman pulls through. I think i parted with you guys on this one. I liked him and still do. Maybe this temporary dose of democratic pary ousting will do him good in the long run. We need centered people in the govt who can work both sides.

Pelosi needs to shape up. If she is going to be head of the house she cant say nutty things like she has in the past. I'm not a huge fan.

Bush's latest "we need to work together" speaches are hilarious. He reminds me of a young school boy learning a lesson in sharing. Ummm...we needed to work together before too ya know....now you actually have to.

here we go.... fucking taxes are gonna go through the roof.

By Blogger ron, at Thursday, November 09, 2006 11:21:00 PM

socially, it's awesome. fiscally, we're going to have to give all our money to the poor. oh wait, i'm poor. well, i'm good for a few years.

By Blogger josh, at Thursday, November 09, 2006 11:32:00 PM

i have come to realize that most of you are not Leftist, and maybe not even moderates, so why talk about this stuff, im just wasting my breath... or is it... encouraging carpol-tunnel or whatever that is

So lets raise those taxes and live in peace!

and whats worse, some of you are the greedy type of conservative, so i cant even have a decent conversation about religion with you...

Branci, i think, if you looked into what Ned stood for you would have supported him. But 90% of CT residents voted for a Democrate for Senate, so thats nice to think about and it looks like we turned the 2nd District Blue.

BLUE TEAM GO! BLUE TEAM GO!

By Blogger wyldshaman, at Friday, November 10, 2006 8:34:00 AM

there are many types of liberal and conservative, and it's also a sliding scale. compared to you and damon, i'm sure the rest of us all seem conservative.

i'm also unclear on the correlation between being "the greedy type of conservative" and not being able to have a conversation about religion. many (most?) conservatives are religious.

i try to keep an open mind, and i also enjoy intellectual discussions. if we happen to disagree on a point, please don't mistake that for my unwillingness to listen and discuss. i'm sure you weren't directing that comment solely at me, but i thought i'd weigh in just to put it out there. for, the narrowing of viewpoints, the death of independent thinking, and groupthink are the killers of progression.

By Blogger josh, at Friday, November 10, 2006 12:50:00 PM

First let me apoligize for any name calling, at times i get a little heated, especially about the whole "taxes" thing, like we dont need them or something? And often people dont see the correlation between less taxes at point A and an increase in taxes at point B. In example; Connecticut has a high gas tax, yes, yes it does, but we have NO toll boths, thats the trade off. The money needs to come from somewhere, its just how the money is raised. Its all very silly and i just dont understand why people dont get it. Dont get me wrong, im pro-tax reform, the current property tax system causes sprawl, slums and picture perfect havens for millionaires. But thats a talk for another day.

Sure there are many perspectives with varying degrees in between. But, generally i divide conservatives into two categories, the Libertarian types and the Moral High Grounders. Now few of you seem to adhere to a strict religious belief, so that means(in my mind), you are the other type, and have a misguided perception that you can be self-sustaining individuals. And it is this strong view of an all-important self that leads down the path of selfishness and greed, whether it is a conscious act or not.

And without a strong moral backdrop i have few fundamental arguments to pull them from this self-serving nature, but i do know that this is a path of inner darkness and not a happy destination, so i should just say... Im sorry.

By Blogger wyldshaman, at Saturday, November 11, 2006 8:42:00 AM

If Ron is scared of Dems rolling back some of Bush's tax cuts, he must be making more than we think? Are you pulling in 6 or 7 figures? Poor guy makes a couple hundred thousand bucks and supposed to pay 25% to um, what does the federal government do again? Oh yeah, fight wars. Our federal tax is very low, and we get essentially nothing at all from it. Tax rates are not the problem. Entitlement programs are not the problem. $450 billion a year on "defense" is the problem. Yeah I'm a commie/socialist/whatever label the fearmonger republicans would like to use.

By Blogger Damon, at Saturday, November 11, 2006 9:50:00 AM

My humor is underappreciated at the workermonkey. Of course we need taxes. I mean, who's going to pay Matt's unemployment the next time he gets canned?

I'm suprised at the comment about not having a religion and the selfishness. This can go on forever as one can argue that no act is truly selfless.

By Blogger ron, at Saturday, November 11, 2006 4:03:00 PM

ahhhh ron...the notion that altruism is a fiction. very interesting topic. i think i wrote a paper on it once in undergrad.

By Blogger josh, at Saturday, November 11, 2006 11:09:00 PM

i saw a friends episode about it.. probably similar to josh's paper.

hahaha no, but i've also seen that episode, and we discussed it last semester in my jurisprudence seminar.

As you know Cain Eli and myself are coming home for holidays. A plan is in the works for New Years Celebrations at the Rock landing house. Clear your calenders. All of you, Cains and Elis friends in one place-It was my mothers idea! Anyways, nothing concrete as of yet but let me know who is interested in the Last Great End of the Road New Years Celebration-not official title

all your standard party favors and everyone is welcome as always

What a joke

Has anyone seen the trailer for the new Bond movie? Give me a fucking break! The new Bond is a blonde muscular action hero! I can understand why they wanted to get someone a little athletic. But come on...that is NOT James Bond! Plus the trailer was all high paced action and explosions.

Yes the Bond series needed a change. But what they needed was a real plot, good acting, and to stick with what worked- class, intrigue, and wit. Instead it appears they went the hollywood route and chose a dumbass pretty boy who blows stuff up a lot while driving cars really fast. Failure! The legacy of 007 is being disgraced. I'm disgusted.

i couldn't agree more. i really can't stand the bonds of the 90's and 00's. the REAL bond movies were clever, creative, suspenseful. the new ones are, as you say, simply car chases and explosions.

i want to see the bond only because i've seen all the others, but i know it will be disappointing. i love when spike or tcm do the bond marathons around thanksgiving and xmas. coming up!

in other news, borat was hilarious.
