And the Blue takes it!

I actually dont have time to get into the election results, but i wanted to post something (and am surprised noone else has). I was at the bar on Tues watching the results come in. It was like watching a sports game- blue vs. red. I loved watching the Dems 'thump' those dirty corrupt republicans. Clean sweep baby! Fox news had the auroa of death- i could feel the depression coming through the screen. Wonderful. Suck it down boys.

A point of conversations:
Lieberman pulls through. I think i parted with you guys on this one. I liked him and still do. Maybe this temporary dose of democratic pary ousting will do him good in the long run. We need centered people in the govt who can work both sides.

Pelosi needs to shape up. If she is going to be head of the house she cant say nutty things like she has in the past. I'm not a huge fan.

Bush's latest "we need to work together" speaches are hilarious. He reminds me of a young school boy learning a lesson in sharing. Ummm...we needed to work together before too ya know....now you actually have to.

socially, it's awesome. fiscally, we're going to have to give all our money to the poor. oh wait, i'm poor. well, i'm good for a few years.

i have come to realize that most of you are not Leftist, and maybe not even moderates, so why talk about this stuff, im just wasting my breath... or is it... encouraging carpol-tunnel or whatever that is

So lets raise those taxes and live in peace!

and whats worse, some of you are the greedy type of conservative, so i cant even have a decent conversation about religion with you...

Branci, i think, if you looked into what Ned stood for you would have supported him. But 90% of CT residents voted for a Democrate for Senate, so thats nice to think about and it looks like we turned the 2nd District Blue.

BLUE TEAM GO! BLUE TEAM GO!

there are many types of liberal and conservative, and it's also a sliding scale. compared to you and damon, i'm sure the rest of us all seem conservative.

i'm also unclear on the correlation between being "the greedy type of conservative" and not being able to have a conversation about religion. many (most?) conservatives are religious.

i try to keep an open mind, and i also enjoy intellectual discussions. if we happen to disagree on a point, please don't mistake that for my unwillingness to listen and discuss. i'm sure you weren't directing that comment solely at me, but i thought i'd weigh in just to put it out there. for, the narrowing of viewpoints, the death of independent thinking, and groupthink are the killers of progression.

First let me apoligize for any name calling, at times i get a little heated, especially about the whole "taxes" thing, like we dont need them or something? And often people dont see the correlation between less taxes at point A and an increase in taxes at point B. In example; Connecticut has a high gas tax, yes, yes it does, but we have NO toll boths, thats the trade off. The money needs to come from somewhere, its just how the money is raised. Its all very silly and i just dont understand why people dont get it. Dont get me wrong, im pro-tax reform, the current property tax system causes sprawl, slums and picture perfect havens for millionaires. But thats a talk for another day.

Sure there are many perspectives with varying degrees in between. But, generally i divide conservatives into two categories, the Libertarian types and the Moral High Grounders. Now few of you seem to adhere to a strict religious belief, so that means(in my mind), you are the other type, and have a misguided perception that you can be self-sustaining individuals. And it is this strong view of an all-important self that leads down the path of selfishness and greed, whether it is a conscious act or not.

And without a strong moral backdrop i have few fundamental arguments to pull them from this self-serving nature, but i do know that this is a path of inner darkness and not a happy destination, so i should just say... Im sorry.

If Ron is scared of Dems rolling back some of Bush's tax cuts, he must be making more than we think? Are you pulling in 6 or 7 figures? Poor guy makes a couple hundred thousand bucks and supposed to pay 25% to um, what does the federal government do again? Oh yeah, fight wars. Our federal tax is very low, and we get essentially nothing at all from it. Tax rates are not the problem. Entitlement programs are not the problem. $450 billion a year on "defense" is the problem. Yeah I'm a commie/socialist/whatever label the fearmonger republicans would like to use.

My humor is underappreciated at the workermonkey. Of course we need taxes. I mean, who's going to pay Matt's unemployment the next time he gets canned?

I'm suprised at the comment about not having a religion and the selfishness. This can go on forever as one can argue that no act is truly selfless.

ahhhh ron...the notion that altruism is a fiction. very interesting topic. i think i wrote a paper on it once in undergrad.
