oh shit!
# posted by ron @ 6/25/2007 11:00:00 PM
...so I bought a condo. I was secretly hoping that during the home inspection today that we would find something terribly wrong with it. No such luck. Needless to say I'm freaking out.
congrats?
oh too bad, I could have found you many of piece of shit up here. Were you hoping for a problem to get out of the agreement to buy (why?), or to lower the price?
my understanding is that he wanted out because he realizes he's now an adult. way to go, ron.
i think he's just afraid to leave his parents house. mommy can't tuck him in any more.
Ha ha, thats funny Matt. Seriously though ron, its normal to be feeling this way. You are going to have your doubts about your choices, but it settles down after a while and becomes normal. Everybody has those feelings. I'm already planning my "holy shit, i bought a house party" if i make a purchase.
if i have the same type of party i was going to call it the "matt barone did something rediculous party". we've all had those thoughts. its normal. buying a house/condo is the single largest investment any of us are going to make in our lifetimes.

Young Democrates of CT Unite!
# posted by Supreme Monkey Overlord @ 6/19/2007 09:37:00 PM
i went to the 3rd annual RFD Dinner presented by our very own CT chapter of the Young Democrates thanks to one socially apt . it was a cool dinner with a bunch of local political icons. speaker of the house, heads of this, representative of that. i don't know one from the other except a few i've met here or there while doing things for . it makes these things kind of fun and a little less nerve racking when i don't know i'm talking to someone important. i made a stupid comment to linda orange tonight that she apparently didn't find too funny.
the speakers tonight were Kennedys, B-list at best. main speaker was Kerry Kennedy, not bad. i'd do her. the other kennedys were ted jr and his wife kiki (kiki kennedy, thats fucking priceless) and thier 8 year old son ted the third, who was passing out Dodd 08 stickers all night.
its nice to get involved with local politics and what always gets me about this stuff is that these people really did start out local, are very approachable and are total pros at meeting everyone and remembering random people. one of the main speakers, gary something, actually remembered my last name when introduced us. i was kind of shocked since i have no clue who he is or why he'd know me. the local part gets me too because for the people who are getting elected higher and higher up, they need everyone in a room like this to support them. you have to know everyone and everything. its certainly a skill set i've not bothered to improve or have much use for during my normal life. anyway, it was a cool dinner and a good way to spend an evening.
Fucking Democrats can't even spell their own party's name right.

Brancibeer's theory on Relativity (aka an update)
# posted by Brancibeer @ 6/12/2007 10:30:00 PM
I'm moved to Tallasassy almost a year ago. Wow, that went quick. Its been good here. I dropped in on a fun social group by chance of my rental situation. I'm very satisfied with my home life, having people to talk to when i come home eases me at what I believe to be a subconscience level. I am also very much fond of the two cats and dog that reside with me. I have a decent start at a friends group and there is more potential to come. The nightlife suits my fancy and the town is not too big and not too small. I havent hit it off with any striking female as of yet, but again, there is potential to come. The job is very busy, occasionally high stress, but rewarding. And again, there is potential to come. Given such factors (and that my lease is running out) I have henceforth decided to look into buying a house. The past week has been a crazy learning curve of how to go about doing THAT. I've been staying up late and cramming like a fat white lady at Po' Folks (there's one for you dirty southerners). I have to say it's going steadily well. This is a big decision, but it just seems to make sense for a lot of reasons. I'll keep you updated. These are happy times for me even in the face of impending and increasing deadlines and having to planning my schedule months ahead. I practice yoga atleast once a week, play volleyball, am attempting to organize an ultimate frisbee game, and have a weekly trivia night at a local bar. Keeping busy and keeping healthy. As many of you know, I took a big hit about two years ago. It really knocked me off my feet and took me to new places. I'm healing back stronger, wiser, better, and will continue to do so. There will always be the bigger things, crazy ambitions, troublesome worries, and greener grass that will lure me to want something different, more, or better. That will never change. But my perspective can. Remember kids...its all relative.
Good to hear
We're going through the home buying process too. Let me know if you want to know anything in particular, I might be able to help. Next time your up, I also have Mortgage for Dummies and HOme Buying for Dummies, both asre very helpful. Your more than welcome to borrow them if you would like.
ditto here. just made an offer on a condo tonight, we'll see what happens.
I figure I'll just do what everyone else does... open the wallet and sign on the dotted line. Really, what's the worst that could happen?

Part of a conversation last night with girl
# posted by Brancibeer @ 6/10/2007 11:27:00 AM
Girl: "...The town i grew up in was pretty small. There really was only 2 options: smoke pot or drink alot." Pause... Me: "I just did both"
smooth.
i once had a similar conversation with someone who was from a town even smaller then haddam. thier line was; "...didn't have anything to do so we all just drank and fucked!"
isn't that the motto of the entire midwest?
