The Buddha is right again...
# posted by wyldshaman @ 10/31/2006 08:26:00 AM
I am amazed at how often the Buddha was right on, I mean the guy was preaching 2500 years ago and he knew about all kinds of things. During The Blessed One's life he built up the monastic order and weaned the monks down to one meal a day, generally taken in late morning after alms rounds. So the monks got a little serving of whatever all the locals where cooking up(slop). This slop, I would say is healthy, because if the monks got up and cooked a bunch of rice or something, they might be missing out on vital nutrients. Where as, if they went around and got a little rice from here, a little millet from there, and some veggies or even fish up yonder, they would be getting food from a variety of places thus increasing the chance of them getting all the nutrients needed in a good diet, even if the caloric intake was low. Fast forward to today's Science Times. One key to a long and healthy life, eat little but get all your nutrients. This makes sense, if you body needs 1500-2200 calories a day, give it that, anything extra is just more work for your body. The act of processing an extra 1000 calories a day, every day, over the course of a lifetime really tires you out. I had known about both these things before today, but I never really made the connection. But this further strengthens my belief that if the Buddha was not fully enlightened, he was at least one smart dude.
So whats with the monkeys??
one of them was given a lower calorie diet and vitamin supplements and is in much better health than the one given much more food

Well when you only get to see your woman a few days a month, what else would you think about those days?
Sometimes you just gotta smack that fern. Put a brand new flavor on that ass.

Costume party, protected by the worlds awesomest man
# posted by Supreme Monkey Overlord @ 10/18/2006 07:32:00 PM
Me. Aisling is having a costume party at her house on October 28th, the saturday before holloween, which is next weekend. i'm going to be the flash. it looks like this:
and don't forget rons house this saturday.
And this little tid-bit from everyones favorite republican nut case: Low in the polls Senator Rick Santorum hit the campaign trail with a pitch aimed squarely at the Tolkien-quoting demographic:
In an interview with the editorial board of the Bucks County Courier Times, embattled Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has equated the war in Iraq with J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings.” According to the paper, Santorum said that the United States has avoided terrorist attacks at home over the past five years because the “Eye of Mordor” has been focused on Iraq instead. “As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else,” Santorum said. “It’s being drawn to Iraq and it’s not being drawn to the U.S. You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don’t want the Eye to come back here to the United States.”
You are awesome my friend.
On a side note- i sure damn hell could have used you at trivia night last week. One of the rounds was "comic book villians". Which my team pretty much bombed on. My knowledge on the subject is limited to cartoons, video games, movies and whatever i picked up from you.
It's obvious the man's got issues.
i'm only a phone call away for crazy trivia answers. i aced jeopardy tonight too by the way.
And for the Lamont Supporters

Here is a great TOOL i found on Lamont's website, it allows you to create personalized postcards sent by his campaign, check it out, send a postcard to a few friends and family and lets put people back into politics. Oh and REGISTER TO VOTE this is the last full week to do so.
fuck, the last week? i went to get my CT drivers lisence this week but i couldn't because i don't have a copy of my birth certificate here. i'm going home this weekend to get it and other stuff but if this is the last week i won't be able to vote. fuck. i think i confused gail hamm when i met her and said i wasn't able to vote for her even though i'm doing a bunch of volinteering for her campain.
I know you can register Monday, and maybe Tuesday, if that helps.

John Kerry VS. Chris Wallace
# posted by wyldshaman @ 10/17/2006 09:05:00 AM
Chris throws alot at Senator Kerry, good interview if people are interested. The InterviewKerry/Obama '08
stewart/colbert '08
i might, however, be persuaded to settle for obama
Stewert/Colbert would be great. No Kerry, he's got no fight, no charisma, he's just "not Bush." Lame. Ok, I'm totally into VT politics and ignoring the national scene, but Matt wouldn't Sanders/Parker be the kind of 180 degree turn we need?
you know more about parker than i do but bernie sanders should run everything. everytime i see him on CSPAN during some stupid conference or lameass commite, bernie is the only one who speaks up and makes some sort of sense and quickly renews my hope that not all politicians are retards.
Good interview. Now if he can only hold up under campaign pressure... Thanks!

its been a while...
# posted by Supreme Monkey Overlord @ 10/10/2006 09:37:00 PM
...since my last post. i guess i really don't have anything to complain about right now and thats what i used this blog for the most. my sister moved in last week and since then she's basically been cleaning and cooking. this place is spotless and all i have to do is put up with the occational bitching. kolpak had the best line with "you've got the food network in the kitchen". i got her in the kitchen and the girlfriend in the bedroom. keep them where they belong as i always say. HA! i'm still not working so i'm collecting still, which is kind of awesome, i really can't complain, basically i get paid to play videogames all day and drink. its like the ultimate job. and right now i think my dream job would be to play World of Warcraft all day. maybe i'll be one of those people who just builds characters and sells them on ebay. i hear they make good money. i've basically been playing the game nonstop since i started. its amazing. i find myself not even playing sometimes but just walking around the world because its so beautiful. sort of like the real world, but cooler. i witnessed another "Amazing Moment in Humanity" today. i was sitting in my car in a parking lot waiting for my isister inside. a car puled up next to me with two hispanic teenagers in it. one got out and went inside, the other stayed. the car parked infront of them was kind of taking up two spaces. parked very badly and a little crooked. the lady driving this car came out of the storer and got in, started the car and began pulling away. then stopped. put the car in reverse and slowly started backing up until she just start up drove into the hispanic kids car. the kid still i nthe car was on his cell phone at the time and my window was down so i heard him say "what the FUCK?!?" but that was is. the lady driving waited about 3 seconds. and then pulled away and drove off down the street. the kid in the car said nothing else, didn't get out, didn't look at me and then kept talking on the phone as if nothing had happened. my sister came out and we left. end of story. if it were my car, i'd hope one of you would at least get out and make a scene, if at the least try to write down the liscene plate number. something, anything, not just keep talking on the phone. i was shocked and a little disappointed, in both parties. why the fuck did the woman start to drive away, then back up, hit another car (with someone in it) and then drive off? what is this world comming to. on a positive note, i saw this awesome "support" ribbon on a car: You should all support this type of freedom. if not, the terrorists are winning. you don't want terrorists to win do you?
The car was probably uninsured.
well you know i would've gotten out and cursed her out, old lady or not.
i think that's the first "support ribbon" i've seen that i actually like.
Ha! One in the kitchen and one in the bedroom....thats hilarious. Your a lazy lazy man roger.
he he, life is sweet.
Don't do the whole "selling my character" thing on the online role-playing games unless you've got someone else playing and leveling up your character while you're asleep. Otherwise it'll break down to like 4 cents/hour when you finally sell it. Trust me. I got beans for my Final Fantasy XI character. And pissed everyone off because I played it during parties I should've been hosting.
well, i don't havea job so i can level pretty quickly. i'm not expecting a giant sum but i bet i could get a few bucks for a high level charactor. the game is hot right now, people aretryingto pick it up.

More Jesus Kid stuff

"A growing number of Evangelical Christians believe there is a revival underway in America that requires Christian Youth to assume leadership roles in advocating the causes of their religious movement. Jesus Camp follows a group of young children to pastor Becky Fischer's "Kids on Fire Summer Camp", where kids are taught to become dedicated Christian soldiers in God's army and are schooled in how to take back America for Christ. The film is a first-ever look into an intense training ground that recruits born-again Christian children to become an active part of America's political future."

Are we going back there now?
# posted by Brancibeer @ 10/06/2006 09:51:00 AM
I subscribe to a listserve that discusses herpetological conservation. Every once and a while something sets one of these nuts off and all this discussion erupts over a controversal topic. It ends up turning into a bunch of herp-nerds throwing daggers at eachother. Here's the begining of one.....
If you are interested in the intelligent design/evolution debate, below is a new thing that just came out. Again, the fundamentalists, like drug lords, are targeting children. It is surprising to me that more left wing religions have not picked up on this and got pissed off! Regardless anyone who is not a right-wing, fundamentalist (e.g. moderate and liberal faiths, agnostics, and athiests) should be concerned about these kinds of attacks on their children. If this isn't unethical, it definitely borders on it.
http://www.kids4truth.com/watchmaker/watch.html
The simple logic in this is portrayed in the perfect way to attract children, the under/uneducated, and those who are not intelligent enough to see through the approach. I wouldn't want my children (if I had any) confused by this kind of thing. I have no problem with someone having faith in these things, however illogical they might be.. but I do have a problem with persons pushing religious agendas on other people's children. It is one thing for one to indoctrinate their own children into a religion, that is their right. It is another for someone else to push their religious beliefs on other people's children.

haha that video was hilarious. unfortunately, it's highly fallacious. it basically argues for intelligent design because science is complex and hard to understand. i forget which fallacy it is, i used to know the names of all of them...but this is definitely one of them. funny video though.
and also: left wing religions, liberal faiths...huh?
that reminds me of http://objectiveministries.org/kidz
-my personal favorite-
Isn't "objective Christian perspective" an oxymoron?
Brainwash! All of it! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
I liked the video, except watches are not living, so, how can you compare something that is living and growing to something that is... a machine?
But, it does make me wonder if given infinite time/space and possiblities, could a watch actually form by itself.
Its funny, that video actually makes me think the underwater watch is possible, rather then "THE WATCHMAKER."
Oh and i must say i like this video alot more then i like looking at Ron with a gun to his head.
i agree with josh, i don't understand the world so there must be a god? what the fuck?!? i don't understand the intracacies of subatomic physics, that must prove that god designed it? if these lunatics spent half as much time learning math and science as they did trying to get people to believe in thier wacked out religions, they might actually understand the process of evolution and how things can evolve. this stuff makes me so angry i don't even know what to do. and that jesus camp stuff is fucking creepy, whats the difference between them and the hitler youth?

Good times at Willi Oaks
# posted by Brancibeer @ 10/03/2006 10:28:00 PM
If i remember correctly there may have been substances involved in that night.
well, i'm not sure about the first one, but that second photo is certainly valid...syracuse SUCKS
These are two of my favorite Willi Oaks pics, actually. Ron looks contemplative. Like he's about to make a completely rational decision.
These are the type of pictures we don't want on the net. Those in the know, know that we are fucking around and that the gun is a pellet gun. The average passer by surfer doesnt know this and I end up looking like a psychopath. These really shouldn't be on the blog.
Lighten up dude. There's a beer can in your hand. The average passer byer doesnt give a shit whats on this blog.
RPL, you are a psychopath. I mean that in the nicest way.
what if he wants to be president some day? this shit will come back to haunt him.
He still lives w/ his parents. I dont think he's going to be president. Ooooh, just messing with ya dude!
What if I'm the one who wants to be fucking President? My voters will see that weird pic of me with Ron in the S&M shirt?
Damn I wish I still had that shirt....
I'd be more worried about the pic of you with the passed out drunk chick.
