my car got broken into last night! kate and i got home around 1 from her parents house and went to bed. around 5 we heard a car alarm going off in the parking lot outside my windows. this is a common occurrence around my building, usually no big deal but Kate jumped up and ran to the window. me, running on 4 hr's sleep just ignored it and rolled over. "oh my god that's your car!" she ran into the kitchen and grabbed my keys and then back to the window where she pressed every button on my key chain thing. "there's someone in your passenger seat!" "huh...wha..?" the next thing i heard was the slapping of footsteps running across the parking lot. she had locked the doors of the car and hit the panic button. this scared off the guy in my passenger seat and scared the shit out of his buddy on the driver side and they both ran. she got a bit of a look a the two but we went outside to see what had happened. she thought it looked like a couple of white guys in their mid twenties wearing jeans and tee shirts. we called 911 right away and waited for the cops to show up. took about 3 minutes, decent response time. we didn't open the car yet, we waited for the cop, there was a hand print in the dew on the passenger side window from the guy opening and closing the door. we're not quite sure how they got in, i'm thinking my lock might have been stuck and not totally closed, but the alarm set when i hit lock on the key chain. what you see in the picture is really the extent of the damage. they were scared off by the noise of the alarm and the instant response of Kate to hit all the buttons. basically they opened everything and took a hand full of change. i don't have a GPS in there any more and i really had nothing in the car to take. the trunk got popped but we think Kate did that with the key chain. the cop took our statement and checked some of the cars in either direction of mine. turns out they had hit another one a few cars down. we talked to the cop for a little while and he said it was a fairly common thing around here. these guys just roam the parking lot at night looking for unlocked cars and maybe a GPS or something to grab. he also noted that its mostly just a hassle for them because they never really catch the guys and they don't get more than a few bucks for a stolen GPS. we filled out all the paper work and headed back inside. all told i'm not really missing anything other than a few dollars in change and a few hours sleep. i guess we got lucky. i'm grateful for Kate's panic'd response to a car alarm in the middle of the night, i just rolled over.
dude, looks like they trashed your car. Oh wait...
oh wait, i'm an adult now, my car is clean day in and say out.
fuck you branci.
glad your getting used to NJ living, maybe next time you will hear them at the back door, hope you have a panic button for that as well
