Don't you understand?! The Wave is destroying us, damn it! We must break away.

Perhaps its best the Wave will be destroyed, maybe we'll post more often on the blog.

the masses demand wow. there is no point in wasting time on D&D

By Blogger Supreme Monkey Overlord, at Monday, August 09, 2010 10:34:00 PM

the masses only included you big guy.

besides, you are light years ahead of us in that game. D&D is a level playing field.

And its free.

By Anonymous Who is up for Dungeons and Dragons?, at Tuesday, August 10, 2010 9:24:00 AM

being ahead would be a huge benefit, plus i would certainly start a new toon to match the group.

the cost per month is worth it for the better of the two games. i don't think you understand what kind of time sink you're under taking.

By Blogger Supreme Monkey Overlord, at Tuesday, August 10, 2010 6:34:00 PM

Well i for one am having a good time on DDO, i look forward to doing some group play, but happy i can run around and do some solo stuff too. And im really happy its free, as im trying to save money.

On that topic, i really like this hybrid style of paying for games. Its free but you kinda gotta work harder, or you can pay to level up fast or open up new things. Im sure i will pay them a little, but its not like i have too. I think its win win all around.

By Anonymous wyldshaman, at Wednesday, August 11, 2010 8:08:00 AM

Yeah, Me and Mo are having a good time too.

Its cool if you don't want to play, Matt. We don't all have to dork it up together every time.

I'm going to try like hell to not pay any money. I just got to hold out until Civ 5 comes out.

Fantasy Football?

Hey Fellas- how about we set up a fantasy football league this year between us old gents? Would we have enough players?

I guess old dames can be involved too (thinking of Mo...).

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Friday, July 16, 2010 9:25:00 AM

Mo and I are in! As long as you don't mind winning ;-)

By Anonymous T, at Friday, July 16, 2010 10:43:00 AM

I figure we could get Me, Tim, Mo, Matt, Ron, Josh, Dominque?, Damon, Joe?, Kolpak? 8 or 10 people would be great.

Would you want to do a buy in to make it interesting? $10-20 maybe?

I can commish if we get enough interest.

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Friday, July 16, 2010 12:25:00 PM

I don't know about money. Might be tough to facilitate.

By Anonymous T, at Friday, July 16, 2010 7:21:00 PM

Id be in, but ive never done it before, as long as it ain't crazy expensive.

By Anonymous wyldshaman, at Friday, July 16, 2010 7:40:00 PM

And i can get a few of my Saints on the team! I had a dream last night Drew Brees sucked this year.... Madden Curse, Super Bowl Curse, Jesse's Bad Dream Curse...? We shall see....

By Anonymous wyld, at Friday, July 16, 2010 7:42:00 PM

i'd throw ten bucks at this. 8 of us means 80 dollar pot, say 60 for 1st, 25 for 2nd, 15 for 3rd? we could do it with paypal.

i'm in.

By Blogger Supreme Monkey Overlord, at Friday, July 16, 2010 9:04:00 PM

you can definitely count me in too

By Blogger josh, at Sunday, July 18, 2010 9:18:00 PM

Uh... 60+25+15 = 100, so that won't quite work...Matto

Ok, I'll set it up and send invites soon. I think we should do a $10 buy in. It makes it a little interesting and keeps people playing. $50 for 1st, $20 for 2nd and $10 for 3rd.

Stay tuned.

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Monday, July 19, 2010 10:33:00 AM

$10 is reasonable and Me and Mo are down for that.

Which Fantasy site do you guys want to use? We have a league on yahoo and that system works very well.

By Anonymous T, at Monday, July 19, 2010 5:13:00 PM

I set up a Yahoo yesterday and sent some invites. Go here:

What if i cant make the draft?

By Anonymous wyldshaman, at Wednesday, July 21, 2010 3:32:00 PM

The draft is a tentative time now. Once we get all the teams, I'll survey everyone to find a suitable time for all.

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Wednesday, July 21, 2010 3:42:00 PM

Cool morning is best for me, from 8am-11am is cool, any day i can be available, otherwise late night, 10pm.

By Anonymous wyldshaman, at Wednesday, July 21, 2010 5:43:00 PM

those have to be some of the worst times for me. i'd haveto wake up early to do 8-11 on a weekend, and 10pm during the week i'm trying to get to bed.

By Blogger Supreme Monkey Overlord, at Wednesday, July 21, 2010 7:07:00 PM

Then anytime on a thursday, friday.

By Anonymous wyld, at Thursday, July 22, 2010 2:20:00 PM

Wow Monkey with the whining. If you get to sleep at 10, getting up for 8 shouldn't be hard. My best fantasy result came from a team I drafted between 3 and 5 am local time in Sweden. As for this draft, I should be pretty flexible around that time, but have some evening events, so midmorning weekend would work well.

By Blogger Damon, at Saturday, July 24, 2010 8:50:00 AM

I think Sunday at 7, is ok for me, if its good for everyone else, i just need to get out of work early that day, unless you all want to make it a big Friday night thing?

By Anonymous wyldshaman, at Sunday, July 25, 2010 11:38:00 AM

Friday night seems like the most reasonable time to me.

back to what's important: Civ V

i love this view and have needed something like this for a long time, it was too hard to see your cultural effect is some areas. i had missed this little nugget: "Sid Meier’s Civilization® V will be available in North America on September 21, 2010"  and "Gamers who pre-order any version of Sid Meier's Civilization V from Steam will receive the downloadable bonus content, Cradle of Civilization Map Pack: Mesopotamia, for free when the game is available. The map pack will let players experience the traditional Western and Middle Eastern "Cradle of Civilization." The pack will include the Fertile Crescent with the Nile River valley to the west and extending east down the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys to the Persian Gulf.  Leaders will be able to explore new terrain, cultures and conquests."

i love these mini's too, reaper made the odd ones i had picked up for modheim.: We're proud to announce that there will be a special edition of Sid Meier’s Civilization V available for purchase on September 21st for $99.99 and internationally September 24th for £59.99 / €79.99 / AUS$129. We’ve packed the SE full of exclusive collectibles as well as behind-the-scenes content, including a 2-disc CD soundtrack of game score selections, a behind-the-scenes DVD at Firaxis, 5 metal figurines based on units from Civilization V manufactured by Reaper Miniatures, a 176 page hardcover artbook, and, of course, a copy of Sid Meier’s Civilization V."

Can't wait for this.

Entering hermit mode in 5...4...3...

By Blogger Brancibeer, at Friday, July 16, 2010 9:19:00 AM

I'm not sure I can justify paying double for material that will only get in the way of playtime. I'm very tempted to get this through my Steam account so I can start DLing it at midnight and probably be ready to play before sunrise.

FYI, when I saw that Strat view on CivFanatics yesterday, it required a change in pants.... Best news, you can fully play the game in that view if you have an outdated videocard.

By Anonymous T, at Friday, July 16, 2010 11:48:00 AM

great, i can buy it and play in my basement on the old computer! Away from that damn crying....

back online, new job, new place

Ding! second week of new job is going good, this ought to be fun. seems like a good group of guys so far, this place certainly has some silly problems and they've been waiting for someone to fill this position. they had a bunch of stuff lined up ready and waiting for me. also, the director of quality was let go the day i started and the QE just handed in his notice. oh boy. two more weeks of this and i might find myself in charge : )

new place is nice, surprisingly quiet, don't miss the sounds of planes flying over head at all. need to find a couch though. threw a lot of stuff away in the move, like a lot. sent a lot of stuff up to VT for storage as well.

---------------------

the Kolpaks had their kid this morning! 6:30am, Eli Kolpak, 7lbs. 9oz, 20" long. i'll add more when i get it.
