olympics

I've been loosely paying attention to the Olympic games this year. i tend to drift in and out and leave it on TV in the background. i try to watch some different sports that i normally wouldn't' see otherwise. like soccer. i just can't do it, i keep trying to watch soccer without getting pissed or angry or just going through a thought process of interest, confusion, anger, hate and then the TV goes off. every time. i get so mad because these people are supposedto be at hte top of thier game and the whole world loves this sport, but i just can't do it. they suck. all of them. there is no strategy involved, there is noone on the field running an offense or defense or what ever the fuck they call it. they get crazy over one goal and then fight to the death to hold on to a 1-0 lead, then everyone gets awed and shocked when the other team, god forbid, ties the game. i watched two soccar games (not entirely but close) over the weekend and they were both the same. i watched the US tie a game they should have dominated and brazil dominate one they should have. why do they stop after one goal? i just don't get it. imagine if baseball were played like that and all the defencive replacements came out afterthe first run? or football, if the offense punted on first down everytime after the first fieldgoal? its horse shit.

i did see most of phelps' golds as NBC played up the crap out of him the whole time and during coverage of everything. i get it, its amazing, moving on... holy shit we needed this bastard or we'd be losing in medals and our gold count would be aweful. he's got like half of our goal total himself.

other olympic thoughts:

those chineese gymnists are all under the age of 14, i don't care what you say.

does girls beach vollyball tour?

does the World Baseball Classic really pose such a threat to olympic baseball that this is the last year?

don't mess with lady sword fighters, the US swept in fencing.

black people are fast. really fast, and all of them.

little hint about Olympic soccer. Its a joke. Soccer fans don't even watch. Euro Cup and World Cup are bigger than the Olympics.

Soccer players are a bunch of whining pussies. That's why I can't watch it. Actually, its a pretty good game to watch sometimes. But the whining!

yeah, i dislike watching soccer as well, be it olympics, world cup, whatever. i think the simpsons summed it up best with "fast kicking, low scoring, and ties!!!" soccer is fun to play, but i agree, i can't watch it either. maybe if the field was a lot smaller there would be more scoring and/or excitement.

the phelps thing is ridiculous. he's awesome, but i got kind of pissed at nbc after a while. even after relay wins, nbc would keep interviewing the teammates about how ridiculous phelps' run is. yes, it's crazy. but have some tact. after racing their best (and winning gold by the way) i dont think the 3 other guys just want to talk about phelps. nor should they.

the chinese gymnasts are definitely younger than 16. but if they win, they win i guess. i dont know much about gymnastics. we saw part of the guys on the rings last night. they're ridiculously strong.

we watched one of the baseball games today. it's ok but the real baseball games are heating up now just before the playoffs.
