Anyone following this MI and FL delegate thing? While I am frustrated that my vote and the votes of 5 million Americans will not be counted toward deciding the primary, I agree with Dean and the DNC on this one. Its pretty simple- if you can't play by the rules...you can't play. It's our own damn fault. Stupid south.
I agree, a re-vote would be unfair at this point. I'd like to point out that MI is not in the south. Its in the dirty midwest. But, doing business in OH, CO and MI for the last three years, I can assure you that their just as religious, uneducated, closeminded, and self-rightous as the south. The only difference I can discern is they don't actually believe the south will rise again (in fact, I'm not sure they know where "the south" is).
Damn, we are elitist yankees!
Yeah, to be fair, the people I know from the midwest(or "America" as they call it) are very much like the people i know from everywhere. They have the same ratio of asshole to non-asshole as everywhere else. They feel much the same way as we do about similar things. They do tend to wax conservative compared to the east coast, but many of them are reasonable. Of course, this excludes Texas.
I will say this about the midwest as well. Many of them were not afforded the same kind of educational oppurtunity we had. And it shows. Its not that there dumb, not by any means. Many of them are quite clever, and more still are very handy and self reliant. However, I wouldn't waste my time discussing the finer points of, say, Dante's Inferno or Hobb's Leviathan. They will think your an elitist asshole. I know this because when I started in my job I used the word "sans" in a sentance. No one, and I mean no one, knew what that word meant. The woman who received the email thought I was making fun of her. They still make fun of me (irony?) for inventing words. A word I thought was common parlance created such a stir my boss asked me to only write emails in "English" (he is also from the midwest).
FYI, from now on my wife wants to call me "Mr Ima Blogger".
i have to admit, when i was down south there were definitely smart people mixed in with the general population. they even had a special word for them: yankees
