mileage is getting erratic

Driving style to blame. or is it the o2 sensor? either way the 2007 report is as follows:
  • 22606 miles driven
  • 2746$ spent
  • 991 gallons burned! whooo yea!
  • 0 accidents (1 wicked close call out blowin' donuts on snowy night)
  • yes there are two 18 mpg tanks in there. subaru= truck
Damon, how many baby ducks did I kill with my CO2 emissions?

ps. Fuck global warming. its still cold as balls in my house. I read an article about how the governing global warming equations left out some 'higher order terms' to make them more easy to solve (very likely if you know anything about diff EQ's). Anyway, it said that the HOT's (higher order terms) dominated when the temp rises and there is no 'runaway' warming effect. I've been saying it for awhile now. rest assured, mother nature will put us in our place and the world will still turn without us.

Yeah wow that's crap mileage and lots of miles, but nice work keeping track.

I don't think ducks are going to be hurt much by climate change.

I don't know anything about the equations they use to predict climate change; the forecasts vary so much (and we are talk about predicting never-happened-before phenomena) that it is clear we don't know what exactly will happen. Two positive feedback effects that you don't need equations to understand both involve melting at the poles. Ice/snow reflect about 90% of incoming radiation, while water reflects only 10%. Also, I'm sure you've heard the tundra contains massive amounts of methane that will be released as the permafrost melts. Methane is a greenhouse gas about 20 times more effective than CO2. Of course some effects are probably negative feedback loops to prevent a runaway condition and who knows which will win out.

With 17 of the hottest years since 1880 occurring during our lives, and other known impacts like a much reduced chance of Lake Champlain freezing, again no equations are needed to know that things are changing.

These results undeniably suggest that you drive like an asshole.

I just started a great book on just that subject, world turning.

"The World Without Us" by Alan Weisman

Its great, really gets you thinking, so we fuck things up and then all die, big deal. The dino's had a good run, but their gone, or morphed to birds or whatever. Maybe if it gets too hot we will sprout wings and fly into the clouds, that would be cool!

"Damon, how many baby ducks did I kill with my CO2 emissions?"

i almost pissed myself when reading this. nice ron.

the methane being released from the arctic melt is one of the most dangerous things facing us. its a by product of global warming. i've seen reports where they claim the amount of methane trapped down there is enough to wipe out man kind because of how toxic the air will suddenly become. methane is a poison. we're fucked.

i don't understnad how people can look out hte window, see a rediculous snowfall in MARCH! and think global warming isn't happening. on of hte things it does is make more storms that are much harsher and higher powered. when was the last time we had a light snow fall that last more then ten minutes? anyone? when was the last time we got a 1/4" of snow in one snow fall? that stuff doesn't happen anymore. its all or nothing with major global warming induced weather.

how can anyone seriously look at a factory thats been pumping tons, literally tons of pounds, of gases and chemicals into the air for 50 years and not think it will have an effect? thats just irrational.

one note about the car info, you're MPG are down in the winter because you let your car warm up in the morning. when its cold out and you let the car sit running for ten minutes you're wasting gas. your mileage is up in the summer months when you can just hop in and drive.

Warming up a car for more than 30 seconds is unnecessary, and ineffective as it takes about 10 minutes to warm it up as much you would have in driving it for a mile or two.

Winter mileage is also lower because the air is denser and so the engine calls for more fuel. You get more power from this too.

never thought about the air density...

i've been letting the new car warm up much more then i ever have any other car. the remote start helps in this regard as i can start it from my kitchen window, and my desk at work (its fucking cold out and i'm a total pussy, so what)

you bitches are all wrong. mpg is down because the o2 sensor is busted and the car is running in closed loop 100% of the time. Also I drive like 80mph on the highway.
