According to the 5 polls I've seen, roughly 2/3 of Americans oppose the troop surge, so if the US were a direct democracy it would not happen.
Our elected representatives in the Senate oppose the surge, so if the US were a representative democracy, a Republic, it would not happen.
Since the executive branch overtly ignores all that and uses its recently added (2003 or so) power to go ahead anyway, it's clear the US is a dictatorship. And given the immunity of Ari Fleisher, and the apparent scapegoating of Scooter Libby, the dodgy election records and "oversight", the failure to address the administration's several breaches of the law, the FBI infiltration of left wing enemies such as book clubs, and the like, it seems the US is a totalitarian dictatorship.
Why do you hate freedom Damon?
Don't go attacking my boy Ari Fleischer. That guy is The Man!
I'd rather pay 50% tax and get free school and health care as I did in Sweden, than pay more tax than corporations who are also allowed to either circumvent public health and environmental laws, or rewrite the laws to suit them. Of course I know you are joking, but I couldn't come up with a joke answer. I'd post more often, but it would all be complaints about the government like this, which there doesn't seem to be too much interest in, or positive things that would be taken as being arrogant (which I am anyway). Well why don't I just go back to Sweden then? Because I couldn't get any of those hot blondes.
You should have sucked it up and taken an ugly one then! ha ha ha
No really I like Ari, something about how he can avoid any direct attack and his wondrous wordplay makes me jealous.
Scott McClellen (sp?) was on Colbert the other night too. Man those guys sure can talk. I suppose you have to in order to lie and make excuses for a failure of a presidency. No wonder 2 have resigned thus far. Bush goes through PR secretaries faster than a hore on nickel night. Booya!
When Ari was the president's talker, I was impressed with his ability to "answer" the questions and felt bad for him.
I couldn't take an ugly Swede because they were even harder to find than hot ones that liked me.
i liked it when ari played the "game". he was a master
