I saw Bubba today! He was in Waterbury at the Palace Theater stumping for Joe Lieberman at his rally. Also speaking were Sen. Chris Dodd, House Speaker Jim Amann, AFL-CIO CT president John Olsen, Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and more. Looking around the place made for a pretty fun who's-who for the political world of CT, especially since I've been getting more familiar with the elected officials and Young Dem members.
And might I say Clinton is still a God in the form of a master statesman. Taller than I thought, also. These guys are all very good at presentation and revving up a crowd, especially when it's their own flock of course. Sen. Dodd is definitely presidential material. I'll be rooting for him come 2008, maybe volunteering where it's needed. You'll probably read the better quotes from Clinton in tomorrow's paper, so I'll give my favorite Speaker Amann ones:
"We will not allow a screeching vocal minority to hijack our party. This is not amateur-night. " - referring to Lieberman's Democratic primary opponent Ned Lamont and his ad campaign. Bursts of applause followed. At exactly 6:00pm (during Clinton's speach) the reporters on the political beat started their broadcasts right next to us. It was kind of weird the way they all began talking at the very same time for different cameras.
And do you know what the coolest part of it all was? And this is just ridiculous....
The opening band was the Tuesday trio for Harbor Park - Bloomer. Fucking A. I almost laughed out of my seat.
bloomer??! nice
hahaha that's awesome. maybe they'll play something presidential for us tomorrow. perhaps something by the presidents of the united states of america?
if i hear lump, i may piss myself.
those guys get around don't they?
since i really don't pay attention to local politics, i have to take your word on some of these guys. I'm not supporting liberman, and i really don't know anything about lamont except for the stuff i saw on TV, i've heard good things about dodd and i think i'd supporrt him too.
