why is
this such a big story? my guess is because no one cares about the olympics, and it's the closest nbc can get to turning them into some sort of spit-on-your-brother reality show, which seems to be what americans like these days. and does it really surprise anyone anyway? oooooooh, he did what's best for
him, big shocker!
the article is right, they both did what was in their best interest. hedrick had a better shot/wanted to skate as a team, davis individually. people think of themselves first, and others second. i'm not saying that's always a bad thing either, it's just the way it is. if you had your best chance, but the day before was a team event where you might get a gold if you skate, what would you do?
i guess the point is i'm just not as shocked as the media seems to be. maybe they're not really shocked either, but i guess they needed something cuz no one is caring about the olympics. the whole thing about the luger who overcame dislexia just wasn't stirring enough i guess. big surprise too, with all that reading lugers have to do.
