Holla holla!

A few things.

I dont post like i used to. I remember just posting for the hell of it- whats going on, what i'm thinking, useless musings, whatever. I rarely do that anymore. I blame this most likely on a couple factors. 1) This site has changed over time. Its not what it was for better or worse. 2) My intake of drugs and alcohol has decreased. There was nothing like those thc induced rantings of the days of old. 3) I'm in the 'real life' now. Whatever that means. 4) Murphy is a big pussy. No explanation necessary.

One thing i noticed about the south is that it is atleast 3 steps behind the rest of the country. I'm talking trends, style, cultural happenings, etc. For example, young people here have just starting using the word, "holla" in relaxed speech. At first i thought it was just a freak lingering of 3 years ago, but no! I'm hearing it again and again! "Ok, holla at me later brian". "Alright, just give me a holla man!". I dont know why this bothers me, but it does...alot. This word is not popular anymore. Its slowly made its way down the ranks of pop culture history. Its been used and worn out and we should now let it die, and stay dead just like all those before it. Stop saying it before my brain implodes!

So goes the story of the dirty. Theres more, but i will stop for now. I do plan on doing some sweet stuff with my new laptop once it arrives. I want to get back into picture editing and such. I'm already planning a slideshow with religious conotations. This 'jesus land' will get whats coming to it afterall. My new hobby is keeping my camera in my car, and when i see something worth noting, i make sure to take the time to snap it. Most churches have a letter board out front, and they usually update the saying every week. My favorite so far has been:

The big bang? I dont think so!
-God

That was a while ago and i didnt get a pic of it. I just remember the feeling I had when i saw it. Kim was also in the car (religion being a sensitive topic with us), and i had to be modest about how what i was feeling.

Your fucked up, hypocritical way of life? I dont think so!
-Common Sense

We may move on, but let us never forget.

Ever see that neon sign in the grocery bodega in the north end of Middletown that says "We forgive but we never forget"? Now that's creepy.

I wonder about American territories overseas. They're probably up to 1980's slang by this point.

if the south is 3 steps behind, VT is like 1-1/2 steps back. i can relate. moving to CT was a big culture shock, you guys were way ahead in just about everything.

oh the south is precious, and not in the that's-so-cute-come-here-i-want-to -hug-you way.

i miss your more frequent posting brancy.

i also detest any slang that has been generated by pop culture. repeating something you hear on mtv doesnt make you as cool as the person who said it, who is probably not that cool to begin with.

that being said, i do enjoy a good song lyric. ludacris is always good for that:

i've got 5 georgia homes
where i rest my georgia bones
come anywhere near my land
and i'll aim at your georgia dome

I beleive the movement of trends usually go like this:

West(CA) ---> Northeast ---> North Central---> Mid-west ---> Dirty South
