What do you all use to handle your music on your computer? I havnt had to manage my music in a while since i havn't had a computer. Now that i have one, i'm wondering if there are any good programs you can recommend. I used to use Winamp in college, but that was a while ago now. I have been using Musicmatch Jukebox. Its seems ok.
itunes biatch. face it, its only a matter of time before you get an ipod.
amaroK, but I doubt there is a windows version, see last.fm to find which windows programs work with it, because it can keep track of the songs you play, and compare you to other people to suggest music you may like
ipods are expensive, have more capacity than I know what to do with, and thus encourage to listen too long and often, which exposes people to potential hearing loss, which occurs much easier with heahphones than through the air. Luckily my mobile phone only holds 39MB of music, which is just enough for the ride to school - perfect. And of course I don't like ipods just because they are popular.
When i changed from a laptop to a desktop i lost an extensive collection of computerized music. At that point i desided to do something crazy, buy CD's. Im very happy with this so far, i support the artists and can see how their lives and music changed from CD to CD, as i rarely buy "best of's." Walking around with earphones in all day is about as bad as having a cell phone glued to your head. Its a good feeling, getting that new CD, flipping through the pages of the cover and listening to each track, dont get me wrong some suck, but now you can go to Amazon and see what others think of it and listen to 30 sec bits. I hope you found this helpfull.
I use itunes, but be warned it takes up some processing space. I find its track randomization to be superior to any others I've used so far.
Itunes is alright. I use it at work. It crashes sometimes and does seem to take alot of juice to run.
My only beef with Musicmatch is 1) they try and sell you a lot of shit (like Itunes) and 2) it doesnt have track fade (where playlists songs fade into one another). I really like that feature.
then just go get the latest winamp. it does everything you just mentioned.
Ok, i think i have decided on MediaMonkey. (How fitting)

It got really good user and prof reviews. (Man, musicmatch got slammed by reviewers bad). You guys arent really that much help with my questions so far...
use whatever program you want, i use itunes also because it rocks with the ipod. never trust any software that comes preinstalled with you computer. if media monkey or musicmatch or winamp or itunes or the fucking media player in limewire (my sister did this for months until i found out)or windows media player or anyone of the ten billion media players works for you, then run with it. they all have good and bad points, some more than others.
