Lifes little surprises

you never know when you're going to hear from someone you haven't talked to in a while or a name from the past pops up in an unlikly place. Today i got a call at work from an employment agency in Rocky hill. The lady asked me all about where i work and what i do here and my title and i finally asked where she got my name from to be calling me. I was listed as a refence on the resume of the CAD guy we had who quit here a few months ago. I was a little shocked that he felt i was the only one he could still count on to say something nice. i kind of know the feeling, when i was applying for jobs this time around i didn't want to use the names of the pople i worked with in the office of JFD as references so i used my guy Tom's name instead. he did recieve a few calls about me but he was totally cool with it. i guess PJ felt i was nice enough to him to think the same about me. If only he knew i was one of the people who said we should fire his ass. I did say some nice things about him but i felt i had to refer this nice lady to TJ (my hot boss) because she handles all the H.R. stuff. She isn't going to be so nice. PJ really pissed her off.

A few minutes later i checked my voice mail and there was a message that started out as a minute of silence. i listened to see where it was going and it turned out to be the Employment agency lady i had just talked to. She had thought she was on hold so she was talking to someone else she worked with the whole time. First it was a strange debate about the effectiveness of dayquil, then she asked the other guy why they were working on PJ again. The other worker said PJ was getting upset at his new place and wanted out again. The lady said "there must be something wrong with this guy, he keeps bouncing around". I laughed. A lot.

It was a very candid conversation that was never ment for my ears but it was a real quick and dirty form of catch up for someone i once worked with. Apparently he's not doing so well still and i'm not the only one to notice. This odd encounter made my day.

that is AWESOME. the best thing that happened to me today is a buddy from usc told me he wished i was still there. that was kinda nice. 2nd best thing was the nap i just took. slow news day.

Mad funny. I wish I got messages like that. I bet most folks I used to know are just losers now playing thier computers at thier...parents......places......
