My car's forward catalytic converter shit the bed. Oxygen sensors, too. Now my fuel mixture is inefficient and stuff. It'll be almost $900 for repairs and with almost 162,000 on the Mazda Protoge. At this point these types of repairs will be coming more and more often, so I can figure that I'd spend at least $4000 more on fixups before I have to ghost-ride this thing off a cliff 40,000 miles later. I don't want this car very badly.
Now here's the specs for something new:
$2000 bank.
Used car from 2003 or before, most likely.
Not crappy.
Possible $1000 on a trade-in if I get a new Mazda.
No full-time job yet, but I'll get something temporary very soon. DJing on weekends. I may instruct snowboarding starting mid-december. I also finally heard back from the Legislature. I got an interview in a week for a position under the gold-dome for the Feb-May 2006 session.
So it's on these assumptions that I rest my case for a new car. Hot-to-lukewarm models preferred. I now open the floor to suggestions.
as far as top models on my list. Charlize Theron
I'd recommend a 92-95 Civic VX like I sold to a very lucky guy for $1600 about a month before the hurricanes sent gas prices through the roof. I usually got 40mpg, and some consider it the cheapest car to operate, though a Metro might be, but the VX has more power and AC too. Anyway, car decisions are very subjective, so we are useless in suggesting things.
Can't go wrong with Honda or Toyota. Although you have a tight budget without much coming in (as is). If you get a job that would help. You can usually find decent civics in the 2-3K range. Of course there always borrowing money. If you did that, I wouldnt purchase anything more than 7K, that way your loan won't be that much. Just keep your eyes out i suppose. Theres a pretty good used car place (with Nissans, Toyotas, Hondas and more)on the Turnpike. I forget the name of the place but it was small and he had fair prices. Let me know if your interested and i will try to remember.
its about time one of us gets a big assed truck so we can all go 'wheelin on the weekends.
hmmmm....
