Quick question: Are there any AIM alternatives that will still work with AIM?
My group in work wants to start using AIM during work hours for quick access to eachother. I despise anything AOL, but also know that other programs are better with more features. Any feedback would be appreciated.
ICQ
check Download.com for others, theres a ton out there and a bunch that can cross all platforms. ICQ is king
muffdiverbrian returns!
Gaim can do more protocols than you thought existed and behaves quite nicely without those ads and crap that Aim uses. Note though that file transfer and that kind of thing is a lot less likely to work than when using official clients.

I used to use Trillion also, but haven't tried it in a few years.
1) ICQ is owned by AOL. Those bastards.
2) Muffdivr will probably not make a return seeing as how I'll be using this at work.
yes AOL owns ICQ, they bought up the only competitor AIM had at the time. i think they bought netscape too. i give you full permission to use imgoingtocutyou.
Update: Decided to go with "Trillion". Its really nice so far. Just what you need and thats it. Death to AOL, those add sucking sellouts.
i guess my opinion here isn't really valid, i can honestly say i haven't IM anyone/thing in at least 3 years
Yeah, you lost all respect when you threw out that ICQ comment.
Y!IM, yahoo's instant messanger is great, plus its international, unlike AIM. I have Yahoo email so it also tells me when i get mail and such, i love it! YA!
