i saw lewis black last night at the
Flynn Theater in burlington. he was awsome. funny, preformed for like an hour and 45 minutes and he left on a high note. he opened with a long bit about bottled water but it was funny so he gets a break. his show was also slightly tailored to the northeast so it was locally relevant. that made it a little funnier, plus he gets bonus points for knowing what city he's in. he was a good performer, a real professional comedian.
my next point starts with this; does anyone watch MTV anymore? MTV isn't the point, but microsoft decided to
unveil its next-gen console on MTV friday night. it got a bunch of air time to show some cool graphics and pictures of what it's going to look like. the biggest news was that the controlers are going to be all wireless. kind of cool. mircrosoft and sony have kind of been throwing canonballs across eachothers bowes in the lead up to the next-gen systems. unless you've been really following this stuff you wouldn't know about the schedual changes that have been going back and forth to steal eachothers thunder for the big annoucements. E3 is comming in the next week and it's usually when everyone gives out all thier secrets for any upcoming projects. this year new concoles are expected so sony and microsoft slowly trickeled out information leading up to it until microsoft decided to take a bunch of money from MTV to "unviel" thier new stuff in a prime time special.
lost in the sony/microsoft cat fight, nintendo has said they aren't going to let the cat out of the bag with any big announcments. nintendo has something cool up their sleeves and aren't going to let it out to one up the competition for the sake of getting fan boys off. i applaude you nintendo. the only problem is i think i know what you have going on and i'm already looking at getting an X-box 360. i'm sorry, its just going to be sweet. nintendo hasn't given me hte third party supprot needed for any system, and this isn't thier own fault. most third party programmers aren't used to seeing anything different so when somehitng like hte DS comes out they can't build games for it. i expect no different from the "revolution", a few good games but never enough upfront. designers won't be able to take advantage of all its capabilities. i don't wnat some half assed mario game that i can yell at in loo of a sweet firstperson shooter that needs a 2000 dollar PC. i LOVE my FPS's, some fancy pikmin or mariokart isnt going to change that, plus maybe no console game will ever replace my fantastic mouse skillz, but 250 for a game machine, or 2000 for a sweet computer to run a good game are two totally different things.
i've read that the nintendo revolution will be about the same size as three DVD cases stacked togeather. humm.......
on another geek front, Star Wars opens this week, is anyone excited? i'm excited, this one has a PG-13 rating compared to the PG rating of all the others. not much but it allows a much darker story then before. plus steven spielburg directed a bunch of scenes, so lucas wasn't able to screw them up. if anyone has watched the Clone Wars animated series they played on the cartoon network, it's going to have a big impact on the new movie. general grevious is the new villian and he's kind of sweet. the animated series was drawn in the samuri jack stlye and it was awsome. i saw four or five episodes and it was very good. i'm going the buy the first seaonjs on DVD before i see the next move because the series bridges the gap and what i saw was good.
back to sports,
this should have happened years ago. anyone notice tino martinez is on fire? or that the yanks have won 8 in a row? the orieals are for real, the white sox aren't. tampa bay, KC this week has to be the lowest attended series of all time. its just sad to watch. at least tampa is going somewhere, KC isn't.
i read up on the NY giants today. they released omiar stoutmire? what eh fuck!?! apprently thier draft was better then i gave them credit for. did you know that running back they drafted was 6-4, 265? me either. the guys they got were decent. better then most people thought they would do without a first or a fifth round pick. they signed a lot of free agents this year so thier offseason will be determined by how these guys do.
lewis black is hilarious. i've actually heard the bottled water bit, but its' funny.
i haven't watched mtv in years. now that i think about it, i never consistently watched it. even when it actually WAS music television. i think that's a poor choice of network to unveil the system on, though the demographics is probably about right. but i know many people who enjoy video games and hate mtv, and so wouldnt even be aware of this unveiling.
ok i'm sick of video game talk.
MTV was cool until maybe 1996 or so. Used to be able to live on MTV and Sportscenter, now I don't watch either. MTV is the epitome of America's baseless obsession with pop culture that prevents most people from using their brains once in awhile. Actually, as much as I like to bash America, it's not just us. Not even just a Western blight. Anywho what do I know, I'm lame myself. (uh oh, everyone will once again read that as "I'm smarter and cooler than you") For anyone who didn't realize, that's why I left, I gave an implication of someone else's positive opinion of my school while saying I was lame, a loser, and had no skills with women, and I was labelled arrogant. And here I am off topic again, beat me up about that will ya!
headbangers ball!
Damn it Damon, why dont you just say you're sorry if anyone misinterpretted you and that you dont think your better than anybody. Stop pussy footing around and come back if you want to! Sorry if that offends you. (see not so hard).
