Nerdtastic

I saw Star wars early this afternoon. I bought tickets yesterday. There was a line waiting outside the theater at about 1:00 when I went in to buy them. I walked up the counter and waited in line behind a nice old lady. I asked for my tickets for the showing this afternoon. The old lady turned and asked "what’s the matter? You don't feel like waiting in line for tonight’s show?" with a chuckle. I laughed and replied "nope, I’m not that desperate, I can wait", this got a good laugh from her and the cute girl working behind the counter. The guying standing in line behind be stopped the fun when he spoke up and said "but you're going to miss all the fun, that’s what I’m here for. I’m going to wait until the midnight show!" turning to look at who the loyal fan was, I spotted a small greasy man who was looking quite disheveled (no offence Tim). The old lady struck me a cool smile with a little grin in there upon seeing your average stereotypical geek/nerd. The cute girl also caught the wily old ladies smile and was laughing too. We finished our transaction and I was out the door. The irony to this story is that I had recently showered, shaved and happened to be wearing clean cloths or else I too would have been playing the part of loyal fan.

the movie it's self was very good, i'm not going to go into too many details to ruin it but the story was very complete. i'd really suggest seeing the clonewars animated series before seeing it though as the opening scroll explains some good stuff in only a few sentances. anikin turning into vader was well done, although the final "acceptance of the dark side" was a little forced. all the battles were sweet, all the plot lines were tied up and everything came to a happy little ending. and now i really want to go back and watch the old ones again.

E3 is still going on. everyones unveiled thier new systems (except nintendo who's holding a bunch of stuff back) and there look to be ton of sweet games comming down the line, including a new, mature zelda. looks good. the footage of the nextgen stuff is amazing, the PS3 really looks good. i hadn't given the new Cell processor enough credit. i've been reading up on it and it really is amazing what it can do. they showed a tech demo of it where there was a ground full of leaves, and then like three tornados poped up and they explained how every leaf had its own audio channel, kept its full graphical rendering and was being tossed around in realtime with all the true physics being preserved. cool. alot of hte games shown off have had some sort of grad scale to them, like war games with a million guys all running around at once on the screen and each of htem totaly interactive with thier own actions and independent AI. very cool stuff.

josh when do you come home? i think becky is graduating this weekend right?

Josh is going to NY for Becky's graduation today, so I'm not sure if he will respond. He left me as guardian of the poker chips, so we have that.
