Settle down children

Seriously, what the fuck. i spend a few days in CT, don't check the blog and all hell breaks loose. everyone apologize now or there'll timeouts for all of you.

yeah, i get angry at things beyond my own control and vent about them here. thats the point. that’s why i started this. it was an afterthought that other people could post also. I have big ideas but don't always follow through on them so I don't post as often as I’d like. Murphy, there was no reason for that, I hope you were drunk/high at the time, ron you too.

maturity has nothing to do with anything here. damon was trying to one-up an ex and someone took it out of context. it feels good to show off/feel superior to someone every now and then. none of us are above any criticism and no one has done anything truly life altering yet.

on a positive note, the next generation (well, third or maybe forth gen.) of that super phone i wanted a while back is coming out soon in europe. check it out here. It’s got a 2-mega pixel camera and a Memory-Stick Duo slot. I think the Duo's are only up too 512 mb right now. It can be used for any kind of file sharing but what makes this phone stand out is that its also an MP3 player to rival the smaller ipods. The memory sticks will expand to larger sizes and the phone itself has almost 3 times the battery life of an ipod mini but it plays videos and displays pictures. oh, and its about the size of the phone i have now. its made by sony-ericsson and will have that walkman label on it. going to be sweet.

if it had a touch screen it would also replace any PDAs out there. a true convergence device that replaces 3 top of the line tech products. the future is scary.

after blanking my hard drive and starting over i've taken a more minimalist approach to my computer. i'm not going to play high end games on my laptop and i'm not going to use it to do any kind of video editing. I’ve started using iTunes and Firefox exclusively. Just music and internet. Soon i'll get into word processing as i've installed MS Office since it seems to be a necessity. my resume is in word. What bothers me about that is that if i submit my resume in anyone other then word people can't figure out how to open it. i had originally done the whole thing in Works in a very basic format until i got people writing back who said they couldn't open it. whats even more troubleing is that Word opens Works documents. I tried applying to some jobs through monster.com and the pratt jobs all want a cut+paste version using ACSII. that just isn't going to look good so i said fuck it. I’m going to manually find the email addresses of people who i knew when i worked there and send it as an attachment.

The other day I watched Super size Me, the documentary where the guy ate nothing but McDonalds for a month. Creepy enough that I’m never going to eat there again, or any other fast food for that matter. the movie was great and done very well, good interviews, good plot, and well executed showing both sides of the argument. The basic problem comes down to corporate americas need for profits against any sort of responsibility towards the general public. I’m not ranting about democrats vs. republicans or anything but the bottom line it they are a business looking to make money at any cost. If they can make the stuff cheaper and trick you into buying it then they make more money. Doesn’t matter what the product is, it could be burgers or toilet paper, makes no difference to the higher ups. I heard this same argument made on the current state of out news media today on public radio. Profits outweigh corporate responsibility.

uconn a 2 seed?!? Syracuse a 4? Washington a 1?!?!? Notre Dame and Miami (OH) left out? What the hell happened with the turny this year. I’m very disappointed with the bracket makers. UVM deserves their 13 seed because coppenrath rocks but they got a raw deal drawing Syracuse in the first round. This is the time of year I always wish I had watched more NCAA games during the season. The conference tournaments provide great games by the bushel and the big dance is always awesome.

I’m sick of steroid coverage. Every player in the league could be on roids for all I’m concerned, it wouldn’t matter. Hand eye co-ordination is the key to hitting home runs. Steroids just make a few fly balls go farther. Pitchers who use them are just stupid because it won’t make them throw the ball any faster, and if it does, their career will be ended that much quicker from a devastating shoulder injury. Big mac was hitting bombs from the first day he played pro all the way through when he broke the home run record a decade later. If he was juiced up for that long he’d be dead by now. Same with bonds, when he hit 73 it had nothing to do with roids. He was swinging the bat like a machine and crushing everything, he waited for his pitch and then hit it perfectly, two things steroids couldn’t help him with.

Congress has no right to call any of these guys before them, and don’t they have better things to do? We’re still at war right? What are they looking to accomplish with this? Get someone to admit guilt in public? Not going to happen. I hope every player called before them pleads the fifth on every question and they get no information.

mcgwire did use steroids. he used some that were legal at the time but now arent. i wouldn't doubt if he used others as well, or continued those as they became illegal. there's no way bonds isnt juiced either. yes, weight training can make you bigger, but your forehead isn't supposed to grow like that. 71 my ass. it's still 61. i like that this is all coming up cuz baseball's still the purest game we have left. let's keep it that way. football has jackasses like moss, etc, and basketball players have illegitimate kids and fight the fans. and hockey---oh right. baseball's problem is most easily cured. might as well have 1 respectable sport.

by 71 i of course meant 73

why are guys like mantle, ruth and arron given a free pass when we talk about steroids? all bonds did was hit 73 in a year when dozens of guys were hittting 50. Babe ruth hit 60 in a year when he out homered every other team in his division, combined! he didn't work out, and all he did was drink and party but he crushed the ball, yet some how he wasn't on steroids?!? mantle was awsome but who's to say he wasn't juiced up too? its impossible to go back and change any stat in sports with out fucking up all of them and starting over.

players in other sports aren't even being looked at either. ray lewis is coked out of his mind every sunday and probably juiced too ut people look the other way because he preforms. guys like eric lindros are stacked and skating around dumb as a pile of bricks.

players also use steroids for other things besides just getting bigger. steroids can help you recover from injuries faster too, look at terrel owens, he broke his leg and was playing at full speed in the super bowl 6 weeks later. i don't care how much you work out, your body can only recover so fast from stufff like that.

longest juicer.....Cal Ripken Jr. seriously, how do you think he played so long?

By Blogger ron, at Wednesday, March 16, 2005 8:32:00 PM

ripkin played so long because of the streak. the orioles had nothing else to promote for year so they pimped his chase for the streak, there were a ton of chances for him to sit because it was common sense. the move to third was a pitty move, he didn't have hte range at SS to continue there, seriously, bordic had better range? anyone had better range then he did at the time. ripkin never should have broken the record and no play for the rest of time shold ever break it because its a bad thing to break that record.

it hurts people and ends their career early if they try to play every day. positional players should play around 155 games a year to keep thier career going, not 162 every year. people need breaks.
