I was thinking of this. what do ya think? It gets 7 miles per gallon.
thats not too bad considering some ford V-10's only get 9. atleast this one's diesel so the gas is cheaper and dirtier. I mean damn, this thing would last you a lifetime. and then you could probably still sell it for 50 grand with 1,000,000 miles on it. talk about resale. plus its probably the safest thing on the road. what besides an 18 wheeler has a fucking chance going up against this thing?
damon, when are you going to school? and why sweden? you could probably apply at schools in the US that have strong renewable energy programs and get your start there. hell, UCONN has the CT global Fuel Cell Center and we have profs here that edit the international journal of hydrogen energy and the ASME international journal of fuel cell science and technology. there is some serious $$ up here for fuel cell students.
come on, you have to comment on the truck. i posted it specifically becaue i know you've got a different view on the beast than i do.
just kidding, we both know that the transportation and the energy of the future will come from slaves. and when they get old and die, or just die we can grind them up and feed them back to the slaves. renewable, right?
I have seen an article about those trucks, they were talking about how you can put your Hummer in the back! Anyway, I don't care, since they are far too impracticle to have much impact.
After falling in love with my 9-5, I'm a little perplexed by how much I like my little Civic. 40mpg makes me forget the little comforts that are missing.
(pending acceptance letters over the next two months) I'll be heading to Sweden in mid August until at least June. Why Sweden!? The women! I've been there it's nuts. Really though (as if that reason isn't really it,) renewable energy is about sustainably extracting power from inexhaustable resources. Fuel cells can be used in sustainable energy systems, but are just batteries, they are not renewable energy. I could not find any sustainable energy programs in America's 1000+ colleges and universities, but there were at least 3 suitable programs offered at Sweden's 39 universities. Northern Europe is very committed to renewable energy. We can't pass the 20% by 2020 goal while a major island off Stockholm has a 100% by 2020 goal and Iceland is practically already there (though they have ridiculous geothermal resources.) But, degree and popular environmental opinion aside, really Ron Storrs vs Stockholm!? And the Swedish degree is flat out free, no work, no teaching, no loans, just free. Nifty socialism.
actually the $$$ thing was what i was really getting at without directly asking. if you were going to go waste 60k just to get a degree then i was going to blast you, but if its free then i might just look into a phd. as for energy, you know how i feel. slaves all the way!
you have a civic, i have an escort, i get 37 mpg on the hiway, i know where you are coming from but my car doesnt let me forget the how uncomfortable it really is.
